Public consultation on the Son Orlandis 220 kV substation extension, in Palma

The Balearic energy department has opened the public consultation on prior administrative and construction authorisation and on the public-utility declaration for the extension of the Son Orlandis 220 kV substation in Palma, with a 100 MVA synchronous compensator and two new bays. Red Electrica de Espana is the promoter, the budget is 45.1 million euros, and the work sits in the 2021-2026 transmission network development plan to strengthen grid resilience. The notice credits the compensator with dynamic voltage control, inertia and short-circuit power, and ties it to easing renewable integration on Mallorca. Submissions run for thirty days from the day after publication.
