An analysis by AFRY Management Consulting reported in the trade press argues that the update to the remuneration framework for gas networks in 2027-2032 will be more favourable to the sector and will bring new incentives for biomethane, seeking a balance between the system's economic sustainability and the sector's demands. For a biomethane plant developer, network remuneration and its incentives shape injection terms and project returns, so the passage of these proposals is worth following.
Cantabria's directorate general for industry, energy and mining has opened public consultation on an application for prior administrative authorisation of a battery energy storage installation. This is the stage at which the project can be examined and objections filed before a decision.
The Toledo provincial delegation for sustainable development has opened public consultation on the application for prior administrative authorisation to hybridise the PSFV Portachuelo solar plant with a storage module, BESS Portachuelo, in the municipality of El Carpio de Tajo (reference PE-566-CV). This is the stage at which affected parties and any interested party can examine the project and file objections before the authorisation is decided.
A tally reported by the trade press puts Spain's pipeline of announced or in-development wind and solar projects at 165.3 GW — first in Europe for large-scale solar and third for wind — within the 552 GW the Mediterranean region has in total. For a developer it is a reference point for sizing the competition for grid access capacity and for sites against the rest of the region's markets.
Spain's environment ministry, through the Just Transition Institute, has launched the procedure to award 937 MW of grid access capacity to new renewable and storage projects at the Mudéjar 400 kV just-transition node in Teruel — the capacity left after 265 MW went to Enel Green Power in the competition already held. According to the published report, the draft ministerial order is being processed under the urgent procedure and would grant capacity in the order applications are received, so as to favour the most mature projects, subject to socio-economic commitments to the area. Projects awarded at just-transition nodes are classed as strategic energy installations and get fast-tracked processing.
The Balearic ministry for business, self-employment and energy has opened public consultation on the administrative authorisation and public-utility recognition — for the purposes of a declaration of general interest, under ordinary environmental processing — of the PSFV Aeropuerto de Son Bonet - Phase 1 solar plant, on the Palma-Inca road at km 6 in Marratxí (file RE024/25). The applicant is Aena. Objections may be filed within thirty days from the day after the notice is published, and the project can be examined on the regional energy directorate's website and on the Transparency Portal.
The Valencian government has opened public consultation on the applications for prior and construction authorisation of CSF La Cañada, a solar plant hybridised with electrochemical battery storage, and of its evacuation infrastructure, in the municipality of Rojales. The notice states 3 MW of installed capacity and 3 MW of granted access capacity (file ATALFE/2024/34/03).
Spain's environment ministry has issued the environmental impact statement for the combined file covering the Breña (30.56 MW), Cerroblanco (52.77 MW), Torviscal (26.38 MW) and Majales (49 MW) solar plants, which would hybridise the existing wind farms of the same names (36, 48, 24 and 49.5 MW). The decision sets the environmental conditions under which the project must be developed; the promoter is OPDEnergy Eólica de Castilla La Mancha, SL, formerly Acciona Eólica de Castilla-La Mancha. The plants sit in Masegoso, with Majales and its electrical works also reaching Casas de Lázaro and Alcaraz. They would use the existing evacuation infrastructure and connection point at the Pinilla 400 kV substation, without increasing the access capacity already granted.

Red Eléctrica has opened public consultation on the addendum to the execution project for the 220 kV double-circuit overhead and underground line between the Mangraners and Peñalba substations, together with its environmental impact statement, the prior and construction authorisations and the declaration of public utility. The addendum makes local changes after objections and reports received in the earlier consultation: four splice chambers in Lleida move off the roadway and several overhead sections are altered, along a 72 km route crossing twelve municipalities in Huesca and Lleida. Objections may be filed within thirty working days from the day after publication, at the Lleida or Huesca sub-delegations of the Government.

Cantabria's regional planning and environment department has issued the environmental impact report for file EIA-SIMP.002.2024, corresponding to a new electrical substation. A new substation is what opens connection points where there were none, so its environmental procedure is an early signal for anyone looking for a grid node in Cantabria.
Decree 143/2026 approves execution of the 66 kV single-circuit overhead/underground transmission line Santa Águeda-El Tablero 2, on the island of Gran Canaria, promoted by Red Eléctrica de España, and orders the amendment of the affected planning instruments. This is island transmission network: every new 66 kV axis reshapes where a project can request access on the island. File AT23-015.
Teruel's provincial office has opened public consultation on the amended project for the shared evacuation infrastructure «220 kV overhead-underground line SET Hoyalta-SET Sierra Costera», together with its declaration of public utility, in the name of Molinos del Ebro. Because it is shared evacuation infrastructure, the amendment reaches every project hanging off that 220 kV axis. Files TE-SP-ENE-AT-2020-001 and DUT-T-2026-0003.
Aragón's energy and mining directorate has granted prior administrative and construction authorisation for the solar module of the «San Agustín» hybrid installation, in the municipalities of Azaila (Teruel) and Almochuel (Zaragoza). With both authorisations in hand, the project now depends on construction and the commissioning certificate. The resolution is dated 11 August and appears now in the Aragón gazette.
Decree 144/2026 approves execution of the installation «Hybridisation of the Santa Lucía del Mar Wind Farm Phase I with the Santa Lucía del Mar Solar Plant», of 1.8 MW, in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), promoted by Energías Alternativas de las Islas. The decree also orders the amendment of the affected planning instruments, the mechanism the Canary Islands use to clear a land-use conflict for an energy installation. File ER225920.
The Almería regional environment office has opened public consultation on the unified environmental authorisation of the stand-alone battery storage project «BESS Greenhouse» and its connection infrastructure, in Berja, promoted by GR Cornical. The notice allows thirty working days from the day after publication for objections; the date shown is the earliest possible, as public holidays are not deducted. The procedure also incorporates the project's environmental impact assessment.
Extremadura's directorate general for sustainable management and forestry policy has corrected the 30 July 2026 notice that opened public consultation on the integrated environmental authorisation for an olive-pomace (alperujo) biomethanisation plant in the municipality of Badajoz, promoted by Desarrollos Bioenergéticos de Extremadura Badajoz, SL (file AAI24/037). The correction changes the plot identification, now plot 14 of polygon 148, and the site's Y coordinate. The plant would occupy roughly 151,000 m², with access from the BA-020 road.
El Periódico de la Energía puts Spain's solar additions in the first half of 2026 at 5.9 GW, a pace holding up despite rising renewable curtailment and more negative-price hours. The two figures go together, and they are why the choice of connection node weighs ever more on a project's returns: capacity keeps coming online while captured value in the middle of the day erodes.
Cantabria's industry, energy and mining directorate has opened public consultation on the application for prior administrative authorisation of a battery energy storage installation. It is a separate file from the one the same directorate resolved on the same day for the Bess Astillero plant, so it opens an objection period on a second storage project in the region.
Alter Enersun is investing over €60m to add batteries to five solar plants in Extremadura, totalling 90 MWp of solar and 135 MWh of storage capacity. One of those files, the amendment of the «Cáceres 2023» solar installation and its evacuation infrastructure, was published in the Extremadura gazette on 7 September. It marks the pace at which already-connected Extremaduran solar plants are adding batteries on their existing connection point.
Red Eléctrica has completed construction of the 220 kV Calatorao substation and its coupling to the Jalón-Los Vientos 220 kV line, an €8.8m investment. It is the substation from which the 220 kV line to the «Proyecto Rhodes» data-centre campus in La Almunia de Doña Godina and Alfamén runs, according to the environmental file published in the Aragón gazette. A new 220 kV bay in service changes the map of available connection points in the Jalón valley.
