Aena's 120 MW solar plant at Madrid-Barajas is in operation, with 52.5 MW more under way

According to pv magazine España, a visit by the ministers for the ecological transition and for transport confirmed that the 120 MW solar plant at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport is in operation, and that two further Aena installations of 7.5 MW and 45 MW are being deployed, under a self-consumption and distributed renewable generation scheme with combined output estimated at 344 GWh/year. The point for a developer is the scale: one demand site absorbing more than 170 MW of solar without needing a new grid connection point.
