Cabra 400 kV substation extension with a synchronous compensator authorised (Córdoba)

Spain's energy ministry has granted Red Eléctrica de España prior administrative and construction authorisation to extend the Cabra substation's 400 kV yard with a synchronous compensator and its associated bay, at Cabra (Córdoba). A synchronous compensator adds voltage control and short-circuit strength at a 400 kV node in southern Spain — one of the constraints that decides how much new renewable and storage capacity can connect nearby.
