Brussels opens infringement proceedings over Spain's electricity risk-preparedness plan
The European Commission has opened infringement proceedings against Spain, France and Belgium for failing to notify the update of their electricity sector risk-preparedness plans, due before 5 January. These plans, updated every four years, set out measures to prevent, handle and mitigate electricity crises, including supply interruptions caused by extreme weather, cyberattacks or fuel shortages, and the coordination mechanisms between member states. Spain has two months to reply; if the answer is insufficient, the Commission can issue a reasoned opinion.
