Canary Islands clear REE to dismantle Fuerteventura's 66 kV line, with the 132 kV network in service
The Canary Islands' Directorate-General for Energy has authorised Red Eléctrica to fully dismantle the old 66 kV line running north to south across Fuerteventura, in three sections: Gran Tarajal-Matas Blancas, Salinas-Gran Tarajal and Salinas-Corralejo. According to the regional ecological transition department, the step required the new 132 kV network to be fully connected and fitted with the necessary transformers first; REE has up to 18 months to remove 344 towers along more than 93 km. For anyone screening the island, the 132 kV network is now the connection reference.
