Canary Islands authorise dismantling of three 66 kV lines on Fuerteventura

The regional energy directorate has granted Red Eléctrica administrative authorisation to close and dismantle the 66 kV lines Gran Tarajal-Matas Blancas, Salinas-Gran Tarajal and Salinas-Corralejo (file AT24/021). That is some 94 kilometres and 344 towers across Tuineje, Pájara, Puerto del Rosario, Antigua and La Oliva. The decision reproduces the system operator's report: each line may only come down once the 132 kV circuits and the 132/66 kV transformers replacing it are in service. Fuerteventura's transmission backbone therefore moves from 66 kV to 132 kV, and that is the voltage to plan around for evacuation on the island.
