Castilla y León files objections to Spain's draft data-centre decree
According to El Periódico de la Energía, the regional government of Castilla y León has filed objections, containing thirteen measures, to the draft state royal decree that will regulate data centres, and its digital transformation minister calls the text "impossible to comply with". Among its criticisms are the obligation for data centres to cover 80% of their electricity consumption from renewable sources, and concern over already approved projects whose execution stretches out in time. The draft is still in state-level processing, so the renewable-supply and siting rules for data centres may still move.
