The cost of system operation services rises to 4.1 billion euros through September

The observatory on the cost of system operation services, whose members include Aelec, ACIE, Acenel, AEGE and CEOE, puts the cumulative cost through the end of September at 4.1 billion euros, 40% more than in the same period of 2025, with a surcharge of 25.01 euros/MWh in the second half of September and 21.95 euros/MWh on average for the year. Red Eléctrica for its part put balancing services through 30 September at 4.219 billion: 3.614 billion for technical constraints, 312.8 million for demand response and 292 million for secondary reserve, with reinforced scheduling below 275 million. These are the numbers behind the reinforced operation that followed the April 2025 blackout.
