Government plans to approve the data-centre decree before the 29-N election, after 600+ submissions
The Spanish government plans to approve the data-centre royal decree before the 29 November election, according to El Periódico de la Energía, and the draft has drawn more than 600 submissions. Aragón's regional president, Jorge Azcón, accuses the government of sacrificing the region's technological future with the rule; the think tank Fedea argues it imposes disproportionate conditions, undermines project viability and applies a discriminatory bias against other economic activities. For anyone developing a data centre in Spain the timing is what matters: it sets when the conditions they will have to meet are locked in.
