MITECO opens 600 MW of grid access capacity at the Maciñeira 400 kV node

Spain's ecological transition ministry has opened a hearing and public consultation on the order regulating and launching the capacity competition for the Maciñeira 400 kV just-transition node, tied to the closure of the As Pontes coal plant. The process will make 600 MW of grid access capacity available to new renewable generation and storage projects in a just-transition area covering 14 municipalities in A Coruña and Lugo. Local socio-economic impact carries 64 of the 100 award points: local jobs, training, self-consumption, value-chain investment and participatory finance. Submissions are open until 22 October.
