Catalonia's largest solar park, 300 MW, enters service at Alcarràs (Lleida)

Catalonia's president opened on Saturday the region's largest solar park, 300 MW installed, at Alcarràs (Lleida); another 100 MW are to follow and battery fields are planned on the same site in future. Its entry into service doubles Catalonia's installed solar capacity outside self-consumption. At the same event he defended the Plater, the territorial sectoral plan for wind and solar generation, which drew more than 12,000 submissions in public consultation and the opposition of over three hundred councils, comarcal boards and civic bodies, and which is meant to pin down the 2% of Catalan territory needed for renewables. That plan is what will decide where solar and wind can go in Catalonia.
