FCC and Waga Energy to produce biomethane at the Alhendín waste plant (Granada)

The Granada provincial council, FCC Medio Ambiente and Waga Energy are developing a biomethane production facility at the Ecocentral Granada waste complex, in Alhendín. FCC Medio Ambiente, which runs the waste treatment plant for the council, has signed an agreement with Waga Energy to build it, upgrading the biogas already generated by the landfill into biomethane. It will produce around 80 GWh a year and avoid some 19,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, and the gas may be fed into the grid, as reported by El Periódico de la Energía.
