Environmental impact report issued for the Marzagan battery storage plant (8 MW), in Telde

The Canary Islands' Directorate-General for Environmental Quality has issued the environmental impact report on the Marzagan battery energy storage system, 8 MW, in Telde (Gran Canaria), promoted by Iberdrola Renovables Canarias, S.A.U. The environmental step is settled and the file can move on to administrative authorisation. In an islanded electricity system such as Gran Canaria's, storage is what lets existing renewable output be used, so each megawatt that advances weighs more than on the mainland.
