No ordinary EIA for the 220 kV connection of the «Proyecto Rhodes» data centre campus (Zaragoza)

Aragón's environmental agency (INAGA) has decided not to submit the external electrical connections of the «Proyecto Rhodes» data-centre campus — a Plan de Interés General de Aragón — to a full environmental impact assessment, and has issued its environmental impact report instead. The scheme covers a 220 kV overhead-and-underground line between REE's Calatorao 220 kV substation and the new «Rhodes» 220/33 kV transformer substation with its metering centre, plus a 15 kV underground medium-voltage line from the La Almunia substation to the data centre, across La Almunia de Doña Godina, Alfamén and Calatorao (Zaragoza). The promoter is Calanza Inmuebles, S.L. For a developer, the point is where demand of this size plugs in: the Calatorao 220 kV node.
