Verallia starts work on three solar plants at Azuqueca de Henares, Seville and Zaragoza

Verallia Iberia has started construction of three self-consumption solar plants next to its glass-container factories at Azuqueca de Henares, Seville and Zaragoza, with commissioning expected in the coming months. They join four already running at Figueira da Foz, Burgos, Gran Canaria and Montblanc, for seven plants the company puts at more than 58,000 MWh a year, about 16% of its factories' electricity use. Verallia says it is also looking at battery storage to raise its self-consumption share. Glass is among the sectors most exposed to power prices, and it is answering that with generation beside the factory rather than with a PPA.
